BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Nepal Geological Society (NGS) decided to organize Nepal Geological Congress regularly at least in an interval of 3 years in order to bring together geo-scientists of the region and other parts of the world to share expertise, experiences and knowledge. Since 1995 Nepal Geological Congress became a regular event of NGS. So far it has already successfully organized five congresses and quite a few Regional and International Symposium and Seminars in the past. All these Congress/ Symposium/ Seminars have also provided a foundation for building effective geo-scientific cooperation among the geoscientists of the Himalaya, Tibet, Karakoram regions and other parts of the world.
